Sales Engineer

Reports to: President

Position Summary

Your career with Pi begins as a key member of the sales team promoting the company’s best in class software products.

Activities will include working on proposals, designing solutions, and preparing presentation materials. You will also perform outgoing telephone and email contact with customers and prospective accounts mainly in response to their queries. You have strong communication abilities and are comfortable with consultants, engineers, managers, and even hourly warehouse workers.  You’re also capable of working independently and for irregular hours.  

It is expected within 18 months and after a customized training program you will move into to a more independent role handling accounts and conducting sales activities.

Essential Job Functions

  •  Analyze customer and prospect requirements, determining fit with the company’s solutions

  •  Design solutions and work flow processes in support of supply chain and material movements

  •  Prepare proposals, prepare presentations, learn to demonstrate the company’s software products

  •  Travel throughout Canada/US to assist at trade shows and participate in presentations to prospective end    users.Perform basic sales functions including following up on queries, adjusting proposals, making product  presentations, and conducting post installation surveys. 

  • Build and manage a close working relationship with your sales team.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all customer and prospect contacts within Pi’s Customer Relations Management database (Microsoft CRM).

  • Follow up and communicate with senior management or technical support for escalation and resolution of more complex problems. 

  • Coordinate between customer services other sales support functions.

  • Continuously analyze market trends and sales data. 

  • Learn to demonstrate the company’s software products

  •  Represent Pi at trade shows and association meetings. 

  •  Participate in the weekly sales meetings and provide reports as needed

  • Perform other duties as required by the President

Education

Post-secondary degree from a recognized institution in Canada or the U.S.  Candidates with educational background in software, engineering, and supply chain will be preferred. 

Experience

You have prior sales and/or customer service experience acquired through previous employment, internship or summer work.

Required Skills

  •  Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) 
  •  Professional telephone manner are required.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction, retention and loyalty. 
  •  Must be computer literate within a Windows environment. 
  •  Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • You must also demonstrate you have the knack or ability to quickly comprehend work flow and     internal work processes   

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license and satisfactory driving record
  • Able to travel to U.S. and across Canada
